2023 State of Value Stream Management Report

A spin off from the DevOps Consortium, the Value Stream Consortium seeks to support the burgeoning demand for VSM thanks to Scaled Agile's SAFe framework pushing this domain discipline once more.

From its roots in Lean, VSM supports and optimises the 5 Types of Agile Value being realised, not to be confused with Benefits Management or Realisation from traditional PPM, close, but not the same!

Here is the highlights/golden nuggets from this years report:

• A 15% increase in the practice of continuous value measurement

• Teams are twice as likely to have connected their value streams in 2023 than in 2022

• Connecting value streams means teams are 4 times as likely to have a lead time of less than one hour

• Elite performers are twice as likely to be using a VSMP as low or medium-performers

• Elite and high performers are 20% more likely to measure value outcomes often or always than low or medium performers

• Elite and high performers are 3-4x more likely to align people to value streams than low performers
